This Galanthus owes its name to its remarkable characteristics. The snowdrop is 'colossal', both the bulb, the foliage, and the flower. The leaves are gray-green, and the outer petals have the unique trait of opening horizontally on warmer days. When the outer segments open, the inner segments with their inverted heart-shaped markings become visible.
